COURSE OVERVIEW

This VTCT NVQ advanced course is designed for people wanting to enter the professional beauty industry. This qualification will provide knowledge and skills for learners to work at a higher level in a salon. This condensed course provides the learner with the advantage of qualifying within a short period, gaining employment within the marketplace, and earning sooner. This course offers flexible study whilst achieving a worldwide recognized qualification.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including, mandatory units covering the following: facial and body electrical, body massage, electrical epilation, monitoring procedures in the salon and contributing to the planning of a promotional event.

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

COURSE CONTENT

B20 – Provide Body Massage

Understanding the skills involved in providing head and body massage treatments , covering manual massage of the head and body as well as mechanical body massage.

B13 – Body Electrical Treatments

This unit is about improving face and skin condition using direct High Frequency, Galvanic, Electro Muscle Stimulator (EMS), Micro-current, Lymphatic Drainage and Microdermabrasion equipment. It covers the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment tailored to individual client needs. The ability to provide relevant aftercare advice is also required.

B14 – Provide Facial Electrical Treatments

B29 – Electrical Epilation

This unit is about the skills involved is assessing, preparing for and carrying electrical needle epilation treatments to remove hair, using alternating current and blend techniques. You will also need to show you can competently advise clients on the care needed after electrical epilation.

B28 – Provide Stone Therapy Treatments

Understanding the skill involved in providing hot and cold stone therapy treatments, covering both the massage and the placing of the stones on the head, face and body, by tapping into the chakra energy systems.

G22 – Develop and Maintain Effectiveness at Work

Identifying hazards, evaluating, reporting, reducing risks and how to deal with them, extending beyond salon staff to those entering the business, clients, suppliers, contract cleaners etc.. Ensuring statutory and workplace instructions are carried out.

H32 – Contribute to the Planning and Implementation of Promotional Activities

Keeping pace with new developments and encouraging clients to take an interest in them. Having the ability to competently present information and interact with the public whilst demonstrating skills. Making clients aware of what is available and helping a salon to survive and thrive in a competitive marketplace.
