A full range of beauty, hair and barbering courses.
Our organisation is dedicated to supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to develop confidence, independence, and practical skills within the hair and beauty industry.
We provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment where learners are encouraged to progress at their own pace while gaining hands-on experience in hair and beauty services. Through tailored support, mentoring, and personalised learning approaches, we help young people build both vocational skills and essential life skills.
Our programmes are designed to improve confidence, communication, teamwork, and employability, preparing learners for further education, training, or future employment opportunities within the industry. We work closely with parents, carers, social workers, and other professionals to ensure each young person receives the support they need to succeed.
By creating real-world learning experiences and positive industry exposure, we empower young people with SEND to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
Hair and Beauty apprenticeships provide learners with the opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience while working towards nationally recognised qualifications within a real salon environment. Apprenticeships are designed to help individuals develop practical skills, professional knowledge, and confidence while earning and learning at the same time.
At SJC Training Academy T/A HB Academy, our Hair and Beauty apprenticeship programmes combine practical salon training with structured education to prepare learners for successful careers within the industry. Apprentices work alongside experienced professionals, allowing them to gain real-life experience with clients while being supported by qualified tutors and assessors throughout their learning journey.
Our apprenticeship programmes are suitable for individuals who are passionate about the hair and beauty industry and want to develop the technical, personal, and employability skills needed to succeed in a professional salon or self-employed setting. Training covers a wide range of areas, including:
• Hairdressing techniques
• Barbering skills
• Beauty therapy treatments
• Client care and consultation
• Health and safety practices
• Professional communication
• Time management and teamwork
• Retail and customer service skills
• Industry standards and salon responsibilities
Learners attend training sessions alongside their practical work placement, where they are assessed on both their practical abilities and theoretical knowledge. Our tutors and assessors provide ongoing mentoring, reviews, and personalised support to ensure apprentices make steady progress and achieve their qualifications successfully.
We understand that every learner has different strengths and needs, which is why we provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment. We also support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to build confidence, independence, and workplace skills through tailored guidance and encouragement.
Completing a Hair and Beauty apprenticeship can lead to a range of career opportunities, including employment within salons, spas, barbershops, freelance work, mobile services, or progression onto advanced qualifications and specialist treatments.
At HB Academy, we are committed to helping learners develop the skills, confidence, and industry experience needed to achieve long-term success within the hair and beauty sector.

The Level 1 VTCT Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector is an excellent starting point for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as it provides a supportive, practical, and confidence-building introduction to the industry.
At HB Academy, we understand that every learner has different strengths, learning styles, and support needs. This qualification is designed to help learners develop essential personal, social, and vocational skills within a structured and encouraging environment.
The course focuses heavily on practical learning, allowing students to engage in hands-on activities that help build confidence, communication, teamwork, and independence. Many SEND learners benefit from practical-based learning rather than purely classroom-based education, making Hair and Beauty an ideal sector for developing skills through experience and repetition.
Our small class sizes allow tutors to provide individual support, guidance, and encouragement throughout the course. Learners are given the time and support needed to progress at their own pace while developing industry knowledge and practical skills.
The qualification introduces learners to a range of areas within the Hair and Beauty industry, including:
The course also helps learners improve important life skills such as timekeeping, responsibility, organisation, and interacting positively with others in a professional environment.
For many SEND learners, this qualification acts as a stepping stone into further education, apprenticeships, supported internships, or employment opportunities within the Hair and Beauty industry. Most importantly, it helps learners grow in confidence, recognise their abilities, and achieve success in a positive and inclusive environment.
